New Build
After the last comp (that I am just not man enough to talk about) I am making a new build....
I also got some Losi Shocks, VP Revolvers, and a new set of claws.
I got stuck tonight... I made it that far and then I realized that I do not have any ball ends that will fit the links. Anybody happen to know what ones will fit so I can go pick them up tomorrow?

Re: New Build
Sweet start, i've heard good things about that chassis and you'll love the VP wheels!! I didn't have a good first comp either. I finally broke down and bought lipo batteries and a hyperion charger and i'm changing motors. Keep us updated on the new build. Hope to see you at Disney on the 14th!!

Re: New Build
Something is not right. Is this a "I need shock limiters" issue?
It just looks really high and I can twist the back end damn near 90 Deg.

Re: New Build
Remove the shock bottom, dump oil, pull shaft out, and put a 1/4" of spacers on the shaft. And Reinstall.
Re: New Build
That is what I figured. time to start over. LOL. Thx.

Re: New Build
Good start Greg, Now move the shocks outward on the top a little to help with torque roll. And to help with over articulation.. Warthogs were cool, but pretty much useless..

Re: New Build
I agree....
Here is where I am. It is all wired up and works. I need new driveshafts to finish this part up. Let me know if you guys see anything that should be changed.
I moved the shocks out a bit by running a nut down the screw then putting the screw in the chassis. using the nut to tighten aginst and the head to keep the shock on. is there a better way?
Now I need to work on getting 2 new MIP shafts and painting a new body. I thought about putting the El Camino back on but decided to pick up a Grappler instead.

Re: New Build
Looks like a very capable rig now, Now cut off key parts off the elco and glue them onto the grappler... Or use the stickers...

Re: New Build
Looks really good, your foams look a little soft to me. Looks like you limited your shocks about right. Good job.

Re: New Build
The rears are stock losi white memory foams. The fronts are the same except I cut about 1/4 of an inch off to make them shorter. Should I replace them so it does not have that flat tore look? I have some NWT 5 and 7 that I could put in.

Re: New Build
I have the NWT hybrid foams in my claws and they perform great. I had good sidehill ability at Robers Cave with them. I have the softer #8's in front and #5's in the rear.

Re: New Build
I will put the NWT in tomorrow. I just painted the body. I don't have anywhere near the skill (or patience) that a lot of you do so there are some bad runs in it. I don't think there is any way to fix it at this point.
Now if my new MIP shafts would get here I think I could cut and mount this and be just about done.

Re: New Build
It looks awesome! There isn't to much you can do about the runs, but try and cover them with decals. Just remember next time to use light coats.
Re: New Build
I started cutting on it this morning. I hope my MIPs make it here today.

Re: New Build
Nice job!! I just ordered a Grappler body Thursday. I may have to have you paint mine Greg That blue will match my VP wheels. What color is that? How did you get the splash effect?

Re: New Build
Blue pearl. I think it spelled Petra in the black and silver can. The silver is a white metalic. The splash was just a stick on thingy that I painted over and removed to do the silver.

Re: New Build
It's alive!!!! Sort of. I got it all working and the dig was not working right. I was trying to figure out why when the servo got hot and quit working. Back to the LHS again. I think I need stronger springs in the back as well. After the servo quit I was free wheeling around and when I would give it a bit of gas the back sags a bit. So I manually locked the rears and then the back dropped quit a bit. Normal or do you think it needs something stiffer?

Re: New Build
I run the Losi Yellow springs in the back. Seem to work pretty good. I think that's what Byrd is running on his GC2 also. They are a bit stronger, but not over-bearing. If the LHS doesn't have them, check losi parts house
http://www.losipartshouse.com/servlet/the-21470/LOSA5148-2.75%22-Spring-2.0/Detail
As for the servo, I run a hi-torque servo for my dna dig. Never can have too much power, especially if it trys to bind, that extra power could help.

Re: New Build
I just wrapped up the build.
I could not find two springs that I was just really happy with 100% so I did something that I am not sure will work right.
I got a set of Associated 1.9 springs and a set of Traxxas springs that did not say what rate they were but they were pretty soft. The Associated springs were just big enough to fit around the shock body nice but they did not fit the adjustment screw or the retainer at the other end quite right. The Traxxas springs were to soft but (still harder than the ones I was using) but fit the ends just right. So I put the Associated and the Traxxas spring on the right rear and only the Traxxas spring on the left rear. The Associated spring fits perfectly inside the Traxxas spring and since the Traxxas spring fits the ends just right it holds both in place. Here is a pic. Think it will work OK? The Associated spring is also wound the other direction so I think it will help keep the two from interfering with each other.
I got my new 225MG in the mail today so I also put it on and adjusted the end points so that it only engages about 90% of the way. I noticed that it was not shifting the dig as smooth as it should so I did a bit of open heart surgery. I pulled the dig out and cleaned all of the old greece out. I put new Lithium Greece in it and buttoned it all back up. Seems to be shifting a lot better now. I have had this dig for about a year now but there was 0 wear to the inside. I could not believe it looked as good today as it did a year ago. I just hope I got it all together right and it last another year.
