I was thinking about a new chassis
I really don't know why but I have been thinking about getting a new chassis. I am not really sure what I want to get right now. I was thinking about one of the HBZ Warthog because it looks sick and from what I can find (still pretty new) out preforms a lot of other tubers. What do you guys think and if not that (or a tuber in general) what do you guys think is a good chassis.
I know some of you are strong supporters of Da Bull but what are you unbiased opinions?

Re: I was thinking about a new chassis
Da Bull! Nothing else, only Da Bull!!
For my 09 rig I'll be going with a ZERO chassis, if I was going to build another shaftie, I would go with the CDW, or a DNA/VF Slingshot

For my personal taste, I love the "Da Bull" It just works alot better than anything I have driven.

Re: I was thinking about a new chassis
I was thinking about the slingshot at one point and I can't remember for the life of me why I decided against it. That CDW one was not bad looking but I think I would have to change my shocks, links, and just about everything else at the same time. I was sort of looking for a really good bolt on chassis for now. That ZERO did not look bad and appeared to be a bolt on chassis.
Looks like you are saying "Anything except a tuber." to me. Is that about right?

Re: I was thinking about a new chassis
Not exactly, the TCS Edge is a awesome chassis. I was talking with Kamikaze(the designer of the Edge) and he claims that they work really good if set up the way they were meant to be.(droop) I think Chad is running his sprung, and it also seems to work good.

The ZERO is not a bolt on chassis, its actually made for Berg axles.

Re: I was thinking about a new chassis
The edge looks nice but for some reason (and maybe it is just me) but it looks high and top heavy. Plus the Warthog is only 6.5 OZ to the edge 10. There is a huge price difference for that bit of weight. The pro comp ver that i was thinking about is $220 to the edge $80. From the looks of it, and the few reviews I have seen, the warthog will out perform the edge but it is so new that it is not really comp proven yet. I hear a lot of good things about tubers and I think I would like to try one, but I am always open to suggestions from more experienced people.

Re: I was thinking about a new chassis
That just seems like a lot to pay for a new chassis. But I say go for it if it's what you want. I like my slingshot, but I did have to make my own links and change to Revo shocks.

Re: I was thinking about a new chassis
It is a lot of money but as rcc said "I would say it's a cross between a UFC fighter and Pam Anderson, extremely tough while having dead sexy good looks." lol I can't decide. Worst part is that Jeniffer just told me to order it up and now I am even more torn. If I do where will I end up sleeping... lol Permission scares me more than punishment sometimes.

Re: I was thinking about a new chassis
GC2, if your wanting a GOOD comp chassis. Tubers are ok, but you don't see any tubers at the top of the list at the end of the day in the comp results, for the most part. And I'm talking from around the country. There heavier while most new chassis are being made from delrin and much light, more flex and still durable.
I have the GC2 on the axial and a ZERO on the BERG. Numerous mounting locations and if you need more, just drill more holes. The tubers usually have the holes already in place and your stuck with what they decided.
Just my thoughts.

Re: I was thinking about a new chassis
If it were me, I would spend that same amount on a cheaper chassis that has had success in comps and better electronics. But I don't know what you're running right now.

Re: I was thinking about a new chassis
I am running an integy 55T and a sidewinder ESC. May not be top notch but they work well. The 4 link that I added to my rig last month got rid of a lot of the issues that I have had but it still does some odd things so I figured I would try swapping the chassis out. I think I might end up going with a more comp proven chassis. The good thing is there are a lot of choices, the bad thing is that there are a lot of choices... lol

Re: I was thinking about a new chassis
The slingshot got rid of nearly all of the torque twist for me. I like the lower profile chassis for whatever reason like the top banana or the CDW by yotachump.

Re: I was thinking about a new chassis
I just emailed don (at VF) and RCP to see if either of them know when RCP will have any in stock. I was also asking about the links. I don't have anyplace to fab at so I wanted to get it with the links. RCP only list one but does not say if it has them or not. Know of any place that sells the slingshot SE?

Re: I was thinking about a new chassis
There was one in the classifieds and on ebay (same one I think) not too long ago that came with the links and shocks.

Re: I was thinking about a new chassis
I forgot about the BlackJack. I went and reg at sincityrcrc.com and was checking it out. Looks like most people are running it with TLT axles and droop. Very few people on their site (and they are the ones that make it) seem to be running it with Axial axles and sprung. I don't really want to have to swap axles right now and I have no clue about that droop stuff yet. It looks pretty low and light from what I can tell. Kinda on the fence on that one. I really wish I had a good RCRC shop here in town where I could go see/play with them ALL and decide that way.

Re: I was thinking about a new chassis
With the GC2, the links are made for you. Traxxas 5318 & 5319. All you need. I'm telling you, it's the way to go. I am still undecided on which rig to run at Nationals b/c the GC2 Axial runs damn awesome.
Just my opinion, which probably doesn't count.

Re: I was thinking about a new chassis
Well I decided what I am going to do. I am going to give the pro comp a chance. May not be the most popular choice but I am going to for now. I am going to be building the kids a rig soon anyways so I figure I will try it out for now and if it works then I will use the stock chassis to start a cheep rig for them to start off on. If it does not work then I will use the warthog to start off a build that they can't tear up. LOL. If I end up not liking it then I am going to do a slingshot. Thank you all for the input.

Re: I was thinking about a new chassis
well HERE is the full build but here is what I ended up with for now. I still have a bit of work to do to get everything just right but I have high hopes for it already.
I have some Losi Rock Carvers that should be on the way soon so we will see how well the combo work. Untested chassis with untested tires... should be fun....

Re: I was thinking about a new chassis
Looks cool but what have you been smokin, you can't take a pic of the hole rig.
I think the rock carvers will work good at Disney where the traction is high and the claws will be better for the slicker rock like Robbers cave. But testing will tell I got a set coming too.

Re: I was thinking about a new chassis
Thanks guys.
The pic are... or were of the whole rig. I think the forums are chopping them again. I just rewired it and lowered all of my electronics. My ESC is about 1/2 an inch above my front drive shaft and the Rx is on top of the upper links. From what I can tell even when it is at full flex the DS does not his the plate that I have my ESC on so that is kewl.
