Team Avery's Bully #3
After building my son's Jarred and Dave bullys and driving them ,I had to have one. I 'll be building Ricky Jr one soon too. Team Avery will be a Bully Team.
I got my Light weight axles and got them all greased up and lock tight on all the screws.
We all have the JPcustom's Hellstrom chassis, I really like this chassis. The adjustablty of this chassis rocks. I'll be using JP's lower and upper links. I'm also going to use RC4WD's titanium hardware.
I reworked the lower links a little and rounded off all the edges.

Re: Team Avery's Bully #3
Here's a couple of pics with the links on , lots more room on the case and motor. They didn't take any of the front steering throw away either.
I also bent the uppers a little and they clear the case a lot better during articulation.

Thank you RC4WD and JPcustoms
It's a roller and feels real nice, I like the way it coming out.
Here's the flex shot ,that bottle is 7" tall . Real smooth during articulation.

Re: Team Avery's Bully #3
Looking good Rick! I'm waiting on my Torquemaster ESC from Holmes to finish my Bully Build. I went with the Beetlejuice chassis I got in a trade with JP lower links. I like how you re-worked the lower links! Thinking of a chassis change to the Hellstorm though due to all the great feedback i've seen on it!

Re: Team Avery's Bully #3
Another nice build! I guess I'm going to have to build a MOA rig.
I saw the body on RCC, it looks sick aswell!

Thanks JPcustoms and RC4WD.
Well I'm getting started on my eletronics, The 1st thing I wanted to do is mount the battery up front as far as I could and I didn't want to tie it to any of my links ,lower or uppers. So I made this tray out of lexan and drilled and taped 2 screws hole in the skid.
It fit in there real nice and with the batery in there it didn't affect the links at all during articulation.
I made the same kind of tray for the dig switch and used the same two holes to mount it to the skid, it sticks out the back.
I put the JH esc in the middle. My battery, esc, dig switch all sit below my upper links.
I made a little shelf for the receiver and it's the only thing above the links.
Now that I know where everything is going ,I put the motors in and wire this rig up.

Re: Team Avery's Bully #3
I got my wiring done and drove it around in the house, Can't wait for the snow to melt so I can find the rocks and try this thing out. It's real peppy, Can pull a good wheelie.
Wiring came out pretty neat.
Got some yellow motor guards to match the body. They are held on with 1 zip tie and the teflon chassis protector tape.
I'm ready to go crawl and dail this rig in.

I got the weight down to 5lbs 8.5 oz. I might add a little weight if it's not balanced the weight I like it.chad30w wrote:Videos of said wheelies?????

Re: Team Avery's Bully #3
I thought I'd show how much clearance I ended up with after bending my links, this is at a full twist. And no spacer on the link mount ,which in turn gave me a little more steering room.

Re: Team Avery's Bully #3
I did notice the rear links got a little caught up on some pointed rocks on the edge of those undercuts. Might not happen very offend but I did a little more mods to the lower links. I rounded the bottom a little.

Re: Team Avery's Bully #3
I got to go out to the test spot and see how she does. It's working pretty good, Being so light at 5.5 lbs is different for me. I might need a little weight up front or something.
Tell me what you think it needs and why.

Re: Team Avery's Bully #3
Well I went out today and I made one change and it fixed it. It work better every where else too, but here a video of the same sidehill. I want to thank Joesbrusier for the tip. All I did is move my back link up one hole at the chassis and added a little squat. Still havn't added any weight and still at 5.5 lbs.

Re: Team Avery's Bully #3
The biggest problem I had with my Bully was the steering. I've been working on this for a while now.
This is my 5th and final prototype, Here's a couple of pics. I made most of it with derlin. It will be aluminum when it's done. It's going to the machinest now .
I'm going to make a kit available.

Re: Team Avery's Bully #3
I'm going to test out my steering this weekend at Disney Double Down weekend. We'll see how the Derlin does.
Here's some more pics,
I made a servo mount, shock mount and link mount all in 1 , the other side of the servo mounts to the bottom of the new link mount I made.
Before and after shots.
